The following laboratory tests are recommended within 12 weeks prior to starting antiviral therapy:

  • Complete blood count (CBC)

  • International normalized ratio (INR)

  • Hepatic function panel (ie, albumin, total and direct bilirubin, alanine aminotransferase [ALT], aspartate aminotransferase [AST], and alkaline phosphatase levels)

  • Calculated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR)

  • HCV genotype and subtype

  • Quantitative HCV RNA (HCV viral load. 


Bring any available test results to the appointment including the results of any additional studies such as liver biopsy, abdominal CT scans or ultrasound.

If you do not have the test results readily available or you did not /could not get the necessary tests done, we can do them locally in a reliable certified laboratory for a reasonable price.

If you have not been diagnosed but have concerns that you might have contracted Hepatitis C we are willing to see you for the consultation as well.
